ONE Musicfest held its annual festival in Atlanta on Saturday at the Aaron’s Amphitheater in Lakewood. The festival featured performances from several fan-favorites, including The Roots, Lauryn Fill, Janelle Monae & Wondaland, SZA, Wale, A$AP Rocky and Ghostface Killah (no Action Bronson in sight).
Thousands of people joined together to witness the wide variety of music, which ranged from hip-hop to alternative to soul, etc. The festival aimed to bring together a roster of artists that would prove to be enjoyable across multiple generations, and judging from the photos it was a huge success.
ONE Musicfest founder and producer, J Carter mentioned the vision behind ONE Musicfest, which stemmed from a lack of representation of soul and hip-hop under the same roof as alternative and rock genres.
“We have noticed that while there are many pockets of individuals that share taste in the same music, rarely do you see them share in this together. ONE Musicfest was created with the idea of ‘music as the universal language,’” said Carter.
The festival, which began in 2010 has been successful in bringing together the mentioned variety of genres over the past five years. Check out photos from this year’s performances below.
