The first season of Fox’s Empire left quite an impression as people fell in love with the dramatic antics, controversy and personalities of the Lyon family. It’s the characters, including fan-favorite “Cookie Lyon” that made the show – with its soap opera feel – a top hit.
With season two less than a month away, Fox has released the official trailer, providing us with a preview of what’s to come. Judging from the trailer, season two will focus primarily on “Lucious Lyon’s” (Terrence Howard) experience in jail, and what that means for the “Empire.”
A lot of the tension among the family will stem from the eldest sibling, “Andre” (Trai Byers) taking control of the business while “Lucious” is incarcerated. This upcoming season will also be full of guest appearances, including from Chris Rock and Tyrese. Other celebrities that are rumored to make guest appearances, include Alicia Key and Ludacris.
Watch the trailer below.
Side Note: Did you all know that the actor who plays Andre and the actress who plays Anika are engaged? Congratulations to Trai and Grace!

Following his somewhat of a diss record, “Charged Up” Drake released what hip hop fans can actually consider an official Meek Mill diss record, titled “Back to Back.”
On the record, Drake addresses several things, including Meek’s relationship with Nicki, in which he drops some memorable lines:
“Is that a world tour or that’s your girl’s tour?”
“Shout out all my boss b!tches, wifing n!ggas up”
“This ain’t what she meant, when she told you open up more”
The record has fans on social media going crazy, as memes and gifs of Meek Mill float around Twitter and Instagram with the majority of fans coming at Meek for starting the beef, but failing to drop a comeback. That’s not to say that Meek isn’t working on a diss now, but so far it appears as if the beef is currently at 1-0 (Drake).
Additionally, on the song Drake mentions that he may have to send a couple bottles to Power 105.1’s Charlamagne. Drake lived up to the line as Charlamagne shared an IG video of a couple of bottles of Don Perignon with a note that read “Let’s Be Friends – Aubrey Graham.”
Listen to the record and check out Charlamagne’s IG clip below.
The #FutureHive has been VERY REAL lately, as fans of the Atlanta-bred rapper have taken to Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook…you name it…to express their infatuation with Future and his latest project – “Dirty Sprite 2.”
Well, to show his support of his fans, as if all the free music he gave us this year was not enough, Future has announced a “Salute the Fans” concert series that will provide people with an opportunity to catch him perform for FREE.
Check out the tour dates below to make sure he’s coming to a city near you. Salute Future Hendrix.
Ciara does not look as if she has ever had a baby, let alone less than a year ago. The 29 year-old singer and mother of baby Future recently showed off her postpartum body in her new video: “Dance Like We’re Making Love.”
The song is off of her latest album, titled “Jackie” which is also a tribute to her mother. The video for the song, features Ci Ci getting grown and sexy in a mansion and private pool showing off ALL her assets. We’re not mad at you Ciara..at all.
Jidenna has dropped the official music video for the remix to “Classic Man,” featuring Kendrick Lamar. For the video, Jidenna reminds us that the classic man is not specific to a certain “type” of black man, as he takes us through the streets of Los Angeles.
The video features appearances from Ty Dolla $ign and Janelle Monae, and is a perfect portrayal of the swag that Jidenna embodies.
The 30-year-old artist is currently signed to Wondaland Records, under Janelle Monae and has already gained the attention of many with an inspirational record that aims to instill confidence in the black community, during a time where America has shown that black lives do NOT matter.
Here’s to the movement. Here’s to the Classic Black man.
Jamie Foxx is known to be consistent with his sound, in making quality R&B music that both men and woman can appreciate. Well, he recently released a hot song, “You Changed Me” with Chris Brown, and apparently the video for the summer record dropped about a month ago.
The video, which stars “Empire’s” Grace Gealy (boo boo kitty) as the leading lady, is set in Los Angeles at a house party. For the party, both Chris and Jamie invite these two women they are currently dating, in an attempt to have a good time and possibly settle down.
Janet Jackson is back from her hiatus, in which she spent living a lifestyle that many of us would be envious of – in Dubai living the royal life with her rich husband. However, the 49 year-old singer recently sat with V Magazine for a cover shoot, and announced big plans for a new label and album this year.
Schedule to release this fall, the album will serve as the first project off of Janet’s Rhythm Nation label, under BMG. The interesting thing is that the album will serve as her first record since Discipline, which released in 2008.
Judging from the cover, it’s no neglecting that Mrs. Jackson still got it! The question is, will she be able to make a memorable comeback that’s relevant to the current sound of music, and able to make her apart of conversations that are currently being dominated by Beyonce, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj.
Following the death of his good friend A$AP Yams, A$AP Rocky failed to disappoint fans with the release of his latest album “At.Long.Last.A$AP.”
In addition to being an overall great album, the project is completely different than what was expected of the Harlem-bred rapper, and his “typical sound.” With its smooth melodies and chill vibe, the project completely embodies every sense of Rocky’s favorite term “Jiggy.”
Some of the more memorable records include, “Fine Whine,” “Excuse Me,” “Jukebox Joints” ft. Kanye West and “M’$.” A$AP also pays homage on the album, with tracks, such as “Max B” and “Electric Body.” The song “Electric Body” samples Tapp’s “Shake that A*#” club mix – and with an appearance from Schoolboy Q – is reminiscent of their previous collaboration, “Hands on the Wheel.”
Watch the video for my favorite record off the album below, “L$D.” The song is the perfect record to play while cruising in your vehicle.
